In 1995, when we first took hold of our historic Gastown brewpub location, we discovered that the building had a rare steam heat system. A remnant from forward thinkers of a century past.

Yukon Beer
Yukon Brewing opened its doors in 1997 under the name Chilkoot Brewing Co. Ltd. Owners Alan and Bob conceived their idea like many Yukon babies – around a campfire on a canoe trip. Both Ontario natives, they’ve lived and worked in the Territory for a good deal of their adult lives. From that inaugural conversation grew plans for a craft brewery that would service the north with quality beer while keeping jobs and money in the territory.

Big Rock Brewery
1984 was a simpler time. Men were men, hard drives were just how you got to Edmonton and beer was either “lager A” or “lager B”. But noted beer fan Ed McNally was thirsty for a real choice. And rather than complicate matters by tracking down established import brews, Ed took the “easy” way out and started his own brewery.

Coal Harbour Brewing

Longwood Brewpub
Nestled within beautiful landscaping and natural west coast wilderness, the Longwood Brew Pub is easily accessible via the Nanaimo Parkway from Victoria, Duke Point ferry terminal, or the old Island Highway from Departure Bay ferry terminal and all points north. Longwood Brew Pub is central Vancouver Island’s first Brew Pub and Nanaimo’s favorite rendezvous destination.

Prohibition Brewing Company
We are 100% B.C. owned and operated and strive to bring clean, crisp and refreshing traditional beers while supporting local suppliers and communities. Bringing you back to a time when ordering a beer was worth the risk. We brew beers so good, you’d ask for them even it was prohibited.

Granville Island Brewing
In 1984 something happened that forever changed the local beer industry: Granville Island Brewing opened the doors to Canada’s first microbrewery. And in doing so, we opened hearts and minds to a whole new beer drinking experience. Driven by a firm belief that the West was ready for a premium, natural, unpasteurized beer Granville Island Brewing introduced locals to our now famous Island Lager.

At Creemore Springs, we’re renowned for being different – in part because we remain 100 years behind the times, in deed and in thought. We make our beer in small batches, in an open flame copper kettle, using the same painstaking methods as the European brew masters of the 1800’s.

At Merridale, we use cider apple varieties that have been proven for centuries in England, France, and Germany to make the best cider. All of our ciders are made from 100% pure juice, and only the first pressing is used. We do not add water or re-press the apples to increase the yield because we believe this compromises the flavour.
